The City’s Sanitation Department is comprised of nine men.  There are six men responsible for the collection of residential waste Monday through Thursday.  They average pickup 7,000 homes weekly.  We run two trucks with three men each.  Rules for residential collection are posted on this site.  Residential pickup is once per week per household.

Two men operate the transfer station.  It is located at the end of Blue Ribbon Parkway (see map).  We have two semi trucks and four self-contained trailers for refuse hauling to the BFI landfill in Murfreesboro, TN.

We take residential and commercial refuse at this location. There is no fee for residential use but commercial is charged a disposal fee of $8.50 per cubic yard.  We also accept metal disposal with no fee at this location.  The tipping fee for commercial trash haulers is $17 per cubic yard.  No fence wire is accepted.

The City’s Transfer station now accepts unused water based latex paint to be disposed of.  This is a joint venture with the Bedford County Highway Department & the City’s Sanitation Department for the recycling of unused paint.  This is a free service to both City & county residence for paint disposal only.
